Finally some structure!!!

I am one of the few people on earth who is happy the weekend's almost over!

I know, "who would be happy about the weekend being over? Grrr, you cray!" is probably along the lines of what you're thinking.

I'm so excited because this weekend is the start of structure.

See, I work on the weekends, early in the morning, to early afternoon, and then I have the rest of the day pretty much to do whatever I like. However, it's the waking up early that kills me.

I saw my boss doing the schedule today, and she's penned me down for hours I can really work with. I only work weekends, and days I have school. Every other day, I'm off. So, Sat/Sun: work. Monday: off (I can never have a case of the Mondays! XD) Tuesday: work. Wed: off. Thur: work. Fri: off.

It's a pattern I can really live with. I actually enjoy my work days, really. The only thing I wish is that I could also study during downtime, because there's just so darn much of it that I don't know what to do with myself.

Anysnooch, With all this structure, I can pretty much always feel certain that I know exactly what I'm doing most of the week. Which leaves me to my own devices on the other three days.

I won't bore you any more with what we all know I'm doing tomorrow, but I will sound like a completely responsible adult (read: nerd...) when I say that I'll be finding places to study on my days off once monday is over with.

No offense to any nerds, they're awesome. So, back to the business, besides studying, I need to find a hobby or two for my days off. I can pick up the clarinet again just fine, which I probably will do, along with my guitar. But what I really want to do is get back to ring making. As it turns out, the artsy town I live/work in has many people who do a lot of artsy things, and metal work is one of them. If I could, I'd love to take an apprenticeship up with that particular artist. But I don't know how to go about it. :(

However, where there's a will, there's a way. I'm sure I can make it happen. Other than that, I need to find use for my typing skills. One dentist says that I'd be useful around october as a receptionist, but that's so far away...

I'd like to take up the longboard. I used to play around with a friend's longboard in the dorms. Those were fun times.

Anysnooch, now I'm just rambling. More later. ^_^

Actual Post for Today

The last one I did, "If you really knew me" was just a fun "bonus" post I did.

The real business of the day is this: My toes have been asleep since
Tuesday, and I popped my shoulder out of socket on Thursday.

How did this happen? Well, on Tuesday, I left home early for school in these cute heels I wanted so badly to break in. I had to be at work an hour and a half after class was over, and didn't think the pain would be unbearable, or that my feet would be "asleep", certainly not for four days.

My shoulder, on the other hand is a different matter. I have the same tuesday class on thursdays, and just as class was beginning, I had an urge to do a stretch I do almost daily.

This seemed like it would not be problematic, as I had just done it on the left side, and increased the stretch a bit no hassle. So I switched to the right side. Everything was fine until I increased the stretch. I heard a loud pop. Then I felt a bit of pain, moved my shoulder around, and thought all was fine. Until friday. I also had to work friday, so while I was at work, I moved my shoulder around some to make sure it really was fine.

I left it alone until today, when I told one of my coworkers, out of boredom, kind of like "haha, this funny thing happened recently", and then she tells me that my right shoulder is higher up than the left. I find the entire event kind of funny, because, as she says, I am hyper flexible in the shoulders, but that is what caused my problem in the first place. I'm not that worried about it, but I have a slight feeling that I probably should be.

Anyway, It's about time to head home, I have work tomorrow, and then the fair on Monday, which I'm super excited about. I hope to meet my buds there. Pics are definitely coming for that post.

If you really knew me

I've seen this post twice, now and the last person, momo, made it a challenge to do this one if you haven't, already.

If you really knew me, you'd know that:

  •  poor spelling and grammar are two of my biggest pet peeves - if not the biggest.
  • I'm a fan of lists
  • I am really only organized on a computer. In real life, I lose all of the things. (especially paper. My backpack is a black hole!)
  • Because I never stuck with one language (except in elementary, where I went to two spanish immersion schools), I can pick up on the gist of conversations (usually) in some non-english languages: Spanish (I can actually tell you the literal translation of what anyone is saying in Spanish), Italian (because I find it so similar), french, portuguese, and I can pick up on more Korean than last month!
  • I hate attention whores.
  • I love being online
  • I can type with my eyes closed *funny story, I might share sometime*, and I have excellent speed.
  • My mom had me on my first computer when I was around 3. (She did not give a 3 year old their own computer, but I was learning how to type.)
  • I can bake very well, and cook, too. However, I like to have my food spicy and most other people don't.
  • I look angry when I walk in downtown or shady areas to deter creepers from approaching me. (There are always instances where it doesn't work...)
  • My first on-stage experience was when I was in first grade. Since then, I have gone to two performing arts schools, one of which I graduated from.
  • I'm a jane-of-many trades, master of ... perhaps half.
  • I do competitions online because they are fun.
  • I'm highly competitive, especially at pool, typing (speed tests), and other "fun" activities.
  • It takes a lot to make me cry, so when I do, it's often for way more reasons than one.
  • I hate to cry. (It causes headaches, and I hate unnecessary pain.)
  • I am always cold, so I wear hoodies and gloves a lot.
  • Most of my friends are guys. Accident? Maybe...maybe not. You can decide if you feel inclined to.
  • If I explain someting to someone in the simplest terms I can manage and they still don't get it, I generally reason that I have every right to be a bit frustrated.
  • I loathe repeating myself.
  • My musical tastes are eclectic, to say the least. I've surprised even people who have known me for years.
  • There are some dances I only do in heels, and when I don't get results in them, anymore, I move on to higher heels.
  • Because I'm such an introvert (unless with close friends), and I'm always thinking, I'm very quiet.  I used to always get asked "what's wrong". Nothing is, usually.
  • Lastly, I HATE to have my thoughts interrupted. Silence is Golden.
That's all, let's see what everyone else has to say, and get to know each other. ^_^

Grudges

My post Kind of Sweet had one lesson from my mom, the one about going out and having fun no matter what. This one is about grudges.

Some people have grudges against others for reasons they probably don’t care to explain, or reasons they are just telling everyone about all of the time. I know people who are always talking about their grudges, but one thing I learned from my mom is that holding the grudge doesn’t hurt the person you’re mad at. Telling everyone who will listen probably doesn’t do much, either, really.

They’re going on about their lives completely indifferent about the fact that you’re mad at them – unless they thrive off of that kind of attention, and most of them don’t. They either don’t know, or genuinely don’t care that you’re mad at them. Which brings me to something a bit more disturbing, but I used to hear it a lot in church – I don’t know why. Pastors seem to be obsessed with telling people to let others know what they’re mad at someone for before they die, so they don’t die not knowing why you’re mad.

It makes sense, but that was … probably a bit awkward to read. I apologize, I’m not usually that morbid, I think…
Well, anyway. I don’t know what people do to get over their grudges, but I guess just think of it as a life lesson. People will do things – often unintentionally- that piss you off. Just go about your day – hard as it may be, and live your life to the best of your ability – and have fun with it, too. Don’t let them keep you down. (If they do care that you’re mad at them, and they want you to stay mad, the best way to get back at them without really getting back at them at all, is to have the most fun of your life, because then they’ll see that you aren’t affected by them, and they’ll likely stop – or at the very least find a new target. Unfortunate, but true.)

Noses, Noses, everywhere

One of the first episodes I remember, and enjoyed, is the one this quote came from. In this scene – if you’re not familiar with this popular ‘90’s show – Will Smith is telling his younger cousin Ashley how to get people to leave her alone. I can’t tell you how to make people leave you alone, but I can offer a story and maybe some advice on how to handle people always being in your business – aside from the stuff you put on the internet. That’s just out there and there’s really no taking it back, but things you say in conversation to others, or just happen to mumble to yourself when you think you’re alone, this might help with those things.

I recently had an event where someone jumped into my business and essentially accused me of having poor moral character. All of this without knowing the first thing about what was actually going on. They kept after me, too, trying to make me feel bad, and then offering to help seconds later.
I don’t take kindly to being accused of anything that I know isn’t true about myself. However, I did my best to ignore it (as I was at work), but something about this event festered in me the longer I tried to not think about it. I asked a couple people in private for their input just for clarification, but to no real resolve. The general consensus, however was – and I’m still completely positive  - that I wasn’t being a bad person, I was just going about my business the best way that I knew how. I just don’t know how to take being accused of being a bad person, since it was one of the only times in my entire life where such a thing happened.

What made this person jump into my business in the first place? I really don’t know, and I don’t know what makes anyone jump into what are commonly called “A-B” conversations. Perhaps it’s attention seeking, and maybe these people who accuse others of poor moral integrity need some redeeming, themselves. I don’t exist in their brains, and from the looks of it, I really don’t want to, anyway.
These people are often negative, and that is contrary to one of my new year’s resolutions to be positive (once again, as I used to be back in high school, and pretty much my entire life before I moved into the dorms. I don’t know what happened there, or perhaps I do and just don’t feel like delving back into that part of my life.).
hate to be emo, but that's what it feels like to go back "there"...

I think what I’m trying to get at today is that people will stick their noses where they don’t belong, and some of those people will do their best to make you feel like less than you are. Just know that you aren’t what they want you to be, and go about your day. When you see that they want to kick you down – perhaps because they perceive you to be higher up than they see themselves -, just get back up and show them how tough you are.

“Can’t nobody hold us down, nothing’s gonna take us down, you may think you can stop it, but we just ain’t stopping tonight, can’t nobody hold us down” – 2ne1.
Stay strong like 2ne1.

I'm getting my first pair of lenses!

I'm so excited. I know my parents won't understand why someone with perfect vision would be excited about getting contact lenses, but I am.

Because they're not just any lenses. They're Circle Lenses. And they're cute! Well,  I think they are. They looked cute on the site.

See, they have swirlies! I like swirls, so I got this kind. Well, I can't wait to see how they look when I get them.

In the meantime, I'm waiting until it's about time to head out for my shopping trip. I hope to have some good finds that I'll likely share with you by the weekend.

Also, on Monday, no matter what, I'm going to the state fair! It'll be the last day, and I haven't missed one fair since my parents left town. (They left over four years ago!) The year they left, I went with them, but we didn't have a lot of time.

So this year, when I go, I want to try a lot of fun, cool things. Even some weird ones, like the bacon ice cream! What about cheeseburger sticks? (It sounds like I'm out to make myself sick! I promise I'm not!)

But my main goal of all time at the fair is this!
Serving: buffalo wings (Ghost wings, buffalo, Caribbean, barbecue), steak fries, brewed malt beverage Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Barqs root beer,
I remember finding them last year inside the Coliseum, and promising to return next year and buy the sauce for these ghost wings. (They're made with ghost chilli pepper sauce!) I drank some of it last year. And then proceeded to pour the sauce all over my corn dog because simply dipping it didn't satisfy my need for heat quite enough.

That's all for now, folks. I have to head out. Pics of my haul soon. ^_^
